Bridging the Exploitation Gap
Exploring strategies for prevention, protection, treatment and support
in the area of sexual exploitation, abuse, violence and trauma
NEW DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED SPRING 2013
Yarnfield Park Training & Conference Centre, Stone, Staffordshire
BASE is continuing its programme of encouraging health and social care professionals to share their expertise in a spirit of collegiality. We have chosen the highly topical and emotive subject of Sexual Exploitation in all its various forms for our Autumn conference. This conference wants to look across all the Agencies to explore models of provision and support for victims/survivors /perpetrators of sexual abuse, violence and trauma as well as support for professionals working in the field.
The Conference aims to:

Raise Awareness of the topic to police, social services, counsellors, therapists, probation officers and NHS staff on the front line

Understand and cope with actual, threatened or potential sexual exploitation, abuse, violence and trauma.

Establish networks of support as a worker in the field,

Improve and enhance individuals’ skills in this area
-
Understand the key steps to dealing with the emotional trauma that could result for front line workers
-
Understand the key steps to dealing with the emotional trauma that could result for clients/patients.
Our provisional programme includes Tony Butler ex Police Chief Constable for Gloucestershire Constabulary who is Trustee of the Child Development Trust, Juliet Grayson, psychotherapist and trainer, with special interest in the Pesso-Boyden System Psychomotor (PBSP), Zoe Lodrick, psychotherapist, trainer and sexualised trauma specialist and Sara Swann, a leading expert in the field of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE). Sara has advised government on the issues and now provides training and consultancy to safeguarding children boards about CSE. These speakers have considerable experience in a diverse range of settings and at the end of the day there will be an opportunity for a “meeting of minds” in a workshop to take a constructive view and open pathways for more co-operative dialogue with those
